The Hunt !

2006 Season Hunt

2007 BEAR

We were recently on a backpacking trip in the Weminuchie Wilderness.  We saw a few bears on the trip.  When we returned to our vehicle there were bear paw prints all around our vehicle.  We thought it was a great shot."

Detailed Tutorial

A 100 page Tutorial was installed when BigGameCD 7.0 was installed. Please read this tutorial, even if you don't typically read assembly instructions or ask for directions!

  1. From the desktop, choose "Start" then "All Programs" or "Programs" in some Windows versions
  2. Move to the "Colorado Outdoors" program group
  3. Choose the "Tutorial" ICON, Adobe Acrobat Reader will then open the manual

The Tutorial is located on the BigGameCD in the \Tutorial directory. The file is in both Adobe Acrobat Reader format and Microsoft Word formats. Both products are TM of their respective companies.

The solution to most problems
Reinstall the software. During the operation of Windows and the computer program itself files occasionally get corrupted. The quickest and easiest solution to most problems is to uninstall and reinstall the BigGameCD program.

Clean (recommended) reinstallation

  1. Choose "Start" then All Programs
  2. For Windows 95, 98, 2000, choose "Settings" (NT users skip to #3)
  3. Choose "Control Panel"
  4. Click on "Add/Remove Programs"
  5. Scroll down to the "BigGameCD Deluxe" entry
  6. Click on "Add/Remove"
  7. Click on this option and follow instructions
  8. Next, place the BigGame CD in the CDROM drive and reinstall the software

Quick Reinstall

  1. Place the BigGameCD in the CD ROM drive
  2. From the main spash screen (picture of a 2 Rams) choose "Reinstall" instead of Run. All program files will be overwritten

If you have downloaded updates you will need to re-download the updates.

How do I install the CD?
Place the CD the CD ROM drive. The installation routines will automatically prompt you for installation instructions. We recommend accepting the installation defaults.

If nothing happens, the Autorun feature of your CDROM drive may be disabled. In this case, perform the following:

  1. From your Desktop, click the "Start" button, then click "Run"
  2. Type "d:\setup.exe", substitute your CDROM drive letter for the letter "d" in the example.
The BigGameCD screens are smaller than my monitor?
The software is designed to run with a monitor setting of 1024 by 768 pixels. The software will display a warning during installation if monitor settings are different than 1024 by 768 but will NOT automatically set the monitor. To reset the monitor perform the following:
  1. Right mouse click on your desktop.
  2. From the list that appears, choose "Properties"
  3. Select the Tab entitled "Settings"
  4. Adjust the monitor slide bar or select the setting for 1024 by 768
  5. Windows will prompt you if a system restart is required

If you have difficulties with the monitor settings please consult your Windows manual.

The Non-Resident Points do not print on the Unit or Season License Scouting Reports
This issue was addressed with BigGameCD Deluxe version 3.5.

  4. Click on "Check for Updates"
  5. BigGameCD will check for updates. If updates are available it will automatically download the needed files.
  6. A system restart may be required. The Program will request a restart if needed.
  7. If a restart is not needed, click on "Rebuild Tables" to complete the integration of the new data with your existing data.

The RECAP report is black when I select a DOW HuntCode from the main screen.
This is a known issue. BigGameCD allows selection of HuntCodes from all years from the Main screen. The RECAP report selects Huntcodes only from the current year. It is possible to select a HuntCode from different years. This selection results in a blank Recap Report.

Solution:

  1. Close the RECAP Report.
  2. Select the Unit , Animal, and Season from the Main screen.
  3. Select "Draw" from the Menu at the top of the screen
  4. Select "Draw History for Unit/Season"
  5. View the graph and detailed data. If there is an entry for the current year, click on the "HuntCode" button in the top right corner. If there is not a data entry for the current year, select a different unit from the top left unit box.

  2. After reinstalling the software, replace the new Notes.mdb file with the Notes.mdb file stored in #1 above.

This item is covered in the "Help" database. See the first item in this list.

Solution:

Prior to uninstalling and reinstalling the software, copy the ~\user\UserWay.mdb file to an alternate directory (where the ~ represents the installation directory, the default is "c:\program files\biggamecddeluxe\ )
